Experience

  • Gained practical sea-ice reconnaissance and analysis experience during nine years with Dome Petroleum’s Beaufort Sea oil exploration program.  Experience included management of satellite image acquisitions and initiation of an airborne synthetic aperture radar system for all-weather ice reconnaissance.
  • Worked for two years as an independent consultant in ice matters before joining Canatec Consultants Ltd. which provided ice consulting and engineering services to offshore oil operators, public agencies and offshore oil operators in the Canadian Arctic, Chukchi Sea, Sea of Okhotsk, and Caspian Sea.
  • In 2001, assumed management of a new, restructured company, Canatec Associates International Ltd. The new company has maintained and strengthened its experience base in existing work areas through the building up of an integrated team of professionals.
  • Personal achievements have been the establishment of a partnership with the Danish Meteorological Institute to manage an ice charting office in Kazakhstan, personal on-site management of the Kazakhstan facility, organizing satellite image acquisition plans for Beaufort Sea marine seismic support, and carrying out daily ice forecasting duties for operations in the Sea of Okhotsk (Russia).
