Experience
Ice/ocean engineering specialist with 23 years of experience in offshore
operations, design studies and ice/ocean R&D in Canada's Arctic and East
Coast, and in the North Caspian Sea. Initially worked in the
Maritimes as a researcher on engineering and ocean projects and later
as a marine engineer making 5 ocean cruises on the eastern seaboard. Worked
for an oil company in Calgary for 10 years, completing over 30 trips to the
Beaufort/Chukchi Seas for field studies of ice features, ice action at
structures and ship/rig monitoring duties. Conducted studies for
design and operation of exploration and production systems for the Beaufort
Sea while at the oil company and later as a consultant. Since 2001,
has worked part-time as a Canatec Associate on ice consulting and
forecasting, and part-time on contract to an oil company for rig monitoring
and ice consulting in the North Caspian Sea.
Lived in Central Mexico for 10 years during the 1990's, working for an
NGO as a water resources engineer on urban and rural development projects
for irrigation, water supply and wastewater treatment with emphasis on
ecological preservation.
